About us
The International Environmental Educational, Advisory and Information Centre of Water Protection Vodňany (IEEAIC/MEVPIS) was established in 2014 by the reconstruction of the former Brok’s mill. We are one of the workplaces of the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters of the University of South bohemia in České Budějovice (FFPW USB/FROV JU) in České Budějovice and we focus on education, training and popularization of science in the fields of water protection, aquatic animals and water friendly management. Thanks to the modern background, we fulfill our goals through:
- One-day and several-day seminars, workshops and international conferences focused on environmental issues.
- Offers of experiential-educational and residential events focused on environmental issues for pupils and teachers of kindergarten, primary and high schools, interest groups and other educational organisations.
- Provision of professional information from the field of environment to the general public, workers of non-profit organisations, university students, pedagogues, watershed and water management companies, entrepreneurs, fishermen and employees of public administrations that makes decisions about the environment.
- Advisory services of the IEEAIC (MEVPIS) centre on working days.
- Rental of conferential premises and accommodation offer to the public.
The centre is located in the attractive location of the Vodňany town in South Bohemia, close to ponds and fish farming facilities of the faculty and within walking distance of the city centre. The building meets the energy audit thanks to the gentle heating with heat pumps.
The centre has a wheelchair access.
The “MEVPIS FROV JU project” was implemented as a part of the Operational Programme Environment (OPE), which was approved in 2012. The total project expenditure was CZK 43,365,798 of which CZK 29,346,069.17 was eligible (OPE). Ineligible expenses (financed by the FFPW USB) amounted to CZK 14,019,728.83.
