The team of authors led by Miroslava Palíková from the Veterinary and Pharmaceutical University of Brno earned an award for the publication named Fish diseases and pathological conditions. The book was published in 2019 by the Faculty of Fisheries and Water Protection of the University of South Bohemia.

The publication provides an overview of diseases of freshwater and aquarium fish and deals with the possibilities of their prevention and possibly therapy. The text is complemented by unique graphical documentation, including original line drawings, which shed light on both the morphology of some organs and the complexity of parasite developmental cycles.

The Award of Josef Hlávka for Scientific Literature is traditionally presented at the chateau Lužany u Přeštic, however this time the ceremony took place on Monday, September 21, 2020 in the area of ​​Hlávka Houses in Prague. The awards have been held since 1992. The Czech Literary Fund and the Foundation „Nadání Josefa, Marie and Zdeňky Hlávkových“ cooperate in the organization. Josef Hlávka was a Czech architect, businessman and patron. Among others, he contributed to the founding of the Czech Academy of Emperor Franz Josef for Science, Literature and Art, the predecessor of today's Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. 130 years have passed since the establishment of the institution this year.
